Worklife: Getting ready for summer

I don’t love scorching hot weather, but I sure do love the pace of summer and the sunshine. I love outdoor concerts and riding my bike. I also love the feeling that I can relax and enjoy some laughs. And of course, before I’m ready, the time has whizzed by and the kids are gearing up for back to school madness. This year will be different! This year I want to make every moment count that I can. Here’s what I’m going to try to focus on.

Be a tourist at home. Concert in the park? Yes please! I will nail that gourmet picnic and be the envy of every concert goer in Brooklyn. I will also try to do some walking tours, shows, and museums because my city is incredible and I love it. What things on your hometown do you overlook because of your daily grind?

Tackle a home project. I have a big list of foxes and upgrades I dream about. This year I’m going to pick one and do it. This may be a storage project in our basement or a vegetable garden. Who knows? Either way my home is my sanctuary and I want to give it some TLC. What big thing have you been putting off?

Get creative with my farm share. Summer is about fresh fruits and vegetables and so am going to channel my inner Ina Garten and cook for myself and my “Jeffrey” (and my buddies of course). It’s so easy to get into a rut of ordering in—this summer Is like to grab the fiddleheads from the farm and figure out just what I can do with them. What new foods and experiences are you going to explore?

More time with friends and family. It goes without saying that connections matter, but I was to make sure I have wonderful memories with my friends and family (see above for inspiration.) Ballgames, boardgames, urban adventures will be on my menu. Expect an invitation. It’s tome to make this summer really count!
